GRE's new
PSR-800 scanner has the ability to track and monitor the audio of the
Prince George's and
Loudoun TDMA Project 25 digital systems. This feature was not advertised, but has been
confirmed by several people on
RadioReference. This makes the PSR-800 the only traditional scanner that can monitor these new systems. (The
Digital Speech Decoder can also monitor these systems with a
discriminator-tapped scanner.)
Note that the "standard" used for these two systems is proprietary to Motorola, and is not the final
Project 25 Phase II standard. Once the final standard is released, it's unknown if the PSR-800 will still be able to monitor these systems or if it can be made to do so via firmware upgrade.
