Weekend Events

The first weekend of the new year has lots of sports, plus one other unusual event:

• Georgetown plays Saturday at 1 PM at Verizon Center.
• The Wizards play Saturday at 7 PM, also at Verizon.
• The Redskins finish the season Sunday at 4:15 PM at FedEx Field.
• The Inaugural Gala for DC mayor-elect Vincent Gray is Sunday at 7 PM at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Stafford County Sheriff Switches to 700 MHz, Encrypts

Stafford County Sheriff has switched to the county's 700 MHz trunked system. Unfortunately, it appears all transmissions are encrypted. The most active talkgroup seems to be 4501, so this is probably the dispatch channel.

Stafford County released a press release about the switch to the new system.

Fire remains on the UHF-T channels for now.

1899 Pennsylvania Avenue FCC App

1899 Pennsylvania Avenue, an office building, has an application pending before the FCC. The app calls for one repeater and four simplex frequencies. Note that the emission code on the app indicates that these frequencies will be MOTOTRBO.

Potomac Mills/Woodbridge Update

Did some Christmas shopping last night in the Potomac Mills/Woodbridge area, and found a few new frequencies:

Weekend Events

This weekend should see a lot of traffic around the malls, as it's the last weekend before Christmas. Look for mall security frequencies to be particularly active. Other than that and the usual holiday events, just a couple of notable events:

• The Wizards play Saturday night at seven, also at Verizon Center.

American Systems has an application pending before the FCC. The app says the frequencies are for "construction use for safety and security" at 4900 Seminary Rd. in Alexandria. The app calls for four simplex frequencies and one repeater. The simplex frequencies have the emission code for NEXEDGE; the repeater has the emission code for MOTOTRBO.
