Firefighter Funeral - December 28

Talkgroup 6008 on the Spotsylvania County trunked system was used yesterday for coordination of units at the funeral of Fredrick Broccolo. The funeral was in the City of Fredericksburg, even though Mr. Broccolo served the Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in Spotsylvania.

BearCom Inauguration Trunked System FCC App

BearCom has an application pending before the FCC for a DMR trunked system for the inauguration. It's unknown if the system will be Capacity Plus or Connect Plus, but a Capacity Plus Multi-Site system may be used based on previous BearCom set-ups. The app calls for sixteen UHF repeaters, and numerous simplex frequencies (which would be used separately from the trunked system). The app calls for 700 mobile units.

New DSD+ "Fast Lane" Released

DSD+ "Fast Lane" 2.29 was released today. (Fast Lane releases are like betas; the current "public release" of DSD+ is 1.101 and was released last Christmas.) Some of the changes from the last Fast Lane (2.18):

• Updated license data
• Yaesu Fusion voice decoding
• Connect Plus over-the-air (OTA) frequency file decoding
• NEXEDGE automatic vehicle locator (AVL) message decoding

1861 International Drive FCC License

1861 International Drive, an office building located in Tysons Corner, was recently licensed for an analog/DMR repeater on 463.8750, and analog/DMR simplex on 452.0375, 452.4875, and 457.4875.

Flint Hill School License Modification

The Flint Hill School, located in Oakton, recently modified its license to add an analog/DMR repeater on 451.7875.

Alshain Ventures FCC App

Alshain Ventures, which owns a data center in Ashburn, has an application pending before the FCC for a DMR/analog repeater on 464.6125 and DMR/analog simplex on 468.3125, 469.5875, and 469.0000.

Edge Networks FCC App

Edge Networks, located in Reston, has an application pending before the FCC for an analog/DMR repeater on 152.9150.

American Gas Association FCC App

The American Gas Association, located at 400 N. Capitol St. in DC, has an application pending before the FCC for a DMR repeater on 464.1125.

MGM National Harbor Open

The MGM National Harbor opened last night. The property is using a Capacity Plus system. Only three talkgroups have been identified so far, but there are probably many more in use. The system may be using additional frequencies, especially during the first few weeks after opening. As of now, the four frequencies only provide eight "talk-paths." (Comparably-sized properties have greater capacity on their systems.)

The license also indicates simplex frequencies.

DC Jail FCC App

The DC Jail has an application pending before the FCC for DMR repeaters on 460.0250 and 460.1000. According to the app, the transmitter will be located at the Correctional Treatment Facility, which is next to the DC Jail. These frequencies may replace or supplement the DC Jail talkgroups on the city's trunked system.

Sallie Mae FCC App

Sallie Mae, located in Reston, has an application pending before the FCC for a DMR repeater on 464.1000.

Tysons Galleria FCC App

Tysons Galleria has an application pending before the FCC for analog/DMR repeaters on 461.6875, 461.7375, and 464.8625 and analog/DMR simplex on 469.8500, 469.8750, and 469.9000.

The mall holds a valid license for two analog repeaters, but may have decided to switch to these new frequencies because of congestion on their legacy frequencies. Here's what the mall was last monitored using:
