Prince George's County Rebanded Frequencies

Prince George's County has been issued licenses for rebanded (radio service code GE) 800 MHz frequencies. See licenses WQKM472, WQKN273, WPBG215, WQKL948 and WQJS954. Some of these frequencies are for the new NPSPAC channels, some are for the COG RINS channels, and some may be for the rebanded legacy EDACS systems.

Mobile Relay Associates FCC License

Mobile Relay Associates, a California-based provider of business-band trunked systems, recently licensed a trunked system in the Washington area. The transmitters are located in Silver Spring (8744 Brookville Road) and Falls Church (8101 Lee Highway). Based on the emission designators on the license, this system will probably be NEXEDGE. No scanner can monitor this digital format.

Prince William 700 MHz Frequencies

Prince William County recently licensed several 700 MHz frequencies. All the frequencies are indicated for mobile use only (no repeaters). The radio service code is SG - Conventional Public Safety 700 MHz. It's assumed these frequencies will be used for interoperability with other DC-area jurisdictions that are installing 700 MHz equipment.

Loudoun County Project 25 Trunked System

Loudoun County's Project 25 trunked system is coming online. This system includes both Project 25 Phase I talkgroups (which can be monitored with current scanners) as well as TDMA talkgroups (which cannot be monitored with today's scanners). If any Phase I radio affiliates to a talkgroup, all transmissions on that talkgroup will be P25 Phase I. This means that scanner listeners still have some opportunity to monitor this system. See this RadioReference Forums thread for extensive discussion on the system.

Prince George's County P25 System Active

The Prince George's County Project 25 system has some activity on it. I'm seeing talkgroups 13 and 25 on site 101. Unfortunately, the traffic appears to be TDMA, which means it's not monitorable with a scanner.
