Spotsylvania TRS Simulcasting SIRS

The Spotsylvania trunked system has recently added a talkgroup (02-032) which simulcasts SIRS (39.5400). This is a great way to listen to this frequency, particularly for those without a good VHF-Low antenna. Many other departments around the region can be heard on the talkgroup.

Uniden BCD396XT/BCD996XT Firmware Update Released

The firmware update for the Uniden BCD396XT/BCD996XT scanners was released yesterday. The update significantly improves decoding on Project 25 systems. Uniden's servers were very busy yesterday, and it was difficult for many people to obtain the software file. The 396XT file has been posted on the BCD396XT Yahoo group, and the 996XT file has been posted on the BCD996XT Yahoo group. (To access the files, you must join the groups.)

Uniden BCD396XT/BCD996XT Getting Firmware Update

The Uniden BCD396XT and BCD996XT scanners are reportedly getting a firmware update to improve P25 decoding. The update should be available at the end of this month.

Loudoun County Rebanded

Loudoun County has rebanded its trunked system. Frequencies have shifted down exactly 15 MHz.

Madison County in Virginia has switched to MOTOTRBO digital on their Sheriff dispatch channel (154.8000). There is also a report that they have switched to TRBO on their Rescue dispatch channel (155.3850).

Stafford Planning to Use MOTOTRBO?

Stafford County has added the MOTOTRBO emission designator (7K60FXE) to their UHF-T licenses. It's unknown what they are going to use these frequencies for, and nothing has been heard on them yet. The sheriff and fire frequencies are no longer used; these departments use the 700 MHz Project 25 system. The schools continue to use their UHF-T frequencies in analog mode.

Stafford Hospital appears to have a talkgroup on the Stafford 700 MHz Project 25 trunked system. Talkgroup 4774 had ambulance-to-hospital communications on it a few days ago.
